Scholarship Connection is UC Berkeley's clearinghouse for information on scholarships that are funded by sources outside the University. The Scholarship Connection website is run by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarships (OURS). We receive hundreds of scholarship notices each year. Competition for these awards may be local, national, or international in scope, and scholarship deadlines and requirements vary.
Students may search for scholarships on the Scholarship Connection online database. To stay up to date on available awards, enrolled UC Berkeley students may also receive biweekly e-mail updates on scholarships and related opportunities. We encourage students to investigate other scholarship resources available on- and off-campus.
If you have received a scholarship from an outside donor, DO NOT have them sent it to THIS office. Please use the following address:
UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office 18 Sproul Hall #1960 Berkeley, CA 94720-1960
Please request that outside scholarship checks are made payable to UC Regents
Be sure to give your donor your student identification number (SID) and ask them to include it with your award
It's helpful if the donor includes a letter explaining the award terms when they send the award check to campus
Nationally Competitive Scholarships
In addition to providing information on many externally-funded scholarships via the Scholarship Connection database, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Prestigious Scholarships (OURS) also administers the preliminary application processes for several national highly competitive and prestigious scholarships. Among these are the Rhodes, Marshall, and Truman Scholarships. Most of these awards require a campus endorsement before the applications can be forwarded to the final levels of competition. The scholarships advisor, Alicia Hayes, offers workshops and individual advising to help applicants prepare competitive applications for these awards.
