The University of California Public Policy and International Affairs (UCPPIA) Summer Institute prepares students for future careers in public policy and international affairs through activities leading to a master’s degree. Students enter the program their junior year by applying for admission to a Junior Institute, which includes seven weeks of intensive study during the summer to further explore public policy and international issues, especially public policy affecting historically undeserved communities, including African Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, Hispanic Americans, or Native Americans. Students selected for the Institute also receive a $1,000 stipend, travel assistance, housing with a meal plan, and books.
