The mission of the Student Mentor Project is to develop and facilitate a network of mentors for community and school based "at-risk" youth organizations, through a financial assistance program for college students that will: 1) Reduce college costs/debt, and, 2) Encourage their participation and long-term commitment to meaningful public service that will have a long-lasting and positive effect. Through the generous support of our major donors, The Bryan and Lisa Watson Charitable Fund, and The Ray and Elsa Watson Charitable Fund, The Student Mentor Project is proud to offer a three-year scholarship at $10,500.

Area of Study: Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Math, Natural Sciences, Public Service, Social and Behavioral Sciences

Other Requirements:
The applicant must be a resident of California at the time of application and must be enrolled as a returning sophomore at UC Berkeley. The selection of the recipients will be based on several criteria, including: a. Academic achievement b. Financial need c. Community service d. Participation in extracurricular activities
