Award Amount: $3,500
Established in 2010 and to be awarded in perpetuity, the Zachary Cruz Memorial Scholarship at UC Berkeley was created by Zachary's parents, Jodie and Frank Cruz (Class of '05, MA '09, PhD in progress). The purpose of the scholarship is to preserve Zachary's memory, to reward excellence in public education, and to support University's commitment to access, equity, and inclusion at Berkeley. Frank and Jodie Cruz also conceive of the scholarship as a way to give back to the communities of Ventura County and the Bay Area, where they raised their son.

• Currently enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley
• Attended a public high school in Ventura County or the San Francisco Bay Area(1)
• Applicant must be a transfer student from a California Community College OR a student parent(2)
• Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence and promise for the future
Graduate Students:
• Currently enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley
• Attended a public high school in Ventura County or the San Francisco Bay Area(1)
