Issac Levine : Yenching Scholars Program

Isaac graduated from UC Berkeley in 2019 with a BA in Political Economy. He also studied Chinese language throughout his time at Berkeley and was awarded the Huang Scholarship, through which he studied with Princeton-in-Beijing and interned at a small music and media company in Shanghai. Miyako Iwata : Strauss Scholarship

Miyako Iwata is a junior majoring in political science at U.C Berkeley. Miyako is ardent about getting students excited about voting. Her Strauss scholarship project, the Pac-12 Voting Challenge uses the healthy rivalries between colleges to get young people civically and politically engaged. As Miyako states, my end goal is one and the same: to make our democracy better. Miyako is a Newman Civic Fellow, a Lead Vote Everywhere Ambassador, and a Voter Registration Manager for the ASUC. She is also a Cal Alumni Leadership Scholarship recipient.

Mira Cheng

Mira Cheng is a junior majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology. Mira’s Strauss scholarship project, Friends of All Ages, is an after-school arts program dedicated to fostering safe, creative, and genuine relationship building between generations. The program will emphasize intergenerational dialogue, mutual respect, and creative storytelling through a variety of multimedia activities. Namrata Ramesh : Rhodes Scholarship

Namrata is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a Physics (Honors) degree. Her senior thesis, supervised by Professor Naomi Ginsberg, involves understanding the dynamics of self assembly of gold nanocrystal superlattices using optical and x-ray scattering techniques. She has also worked on studying the trajectories of electrons in manganese doped halide perovskites using Monte Carlo simulations. In 2015 Briana Mullen graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a major in history. Briana was an ASUC Senator who championed the issues of student parents, foster youth, and other independent students.
